I went to Witches Rock last year.
I have been to several other surf camp's around the world, and had high expectations for this place.
The accommodation is very very basic, outdated smelly rooms that are damp.

In fact I think Costa Rica as a surf destination is over rated, it was very crowded were we surfed with the crew from Witches rock, and I also had my doubts about the water quality next to a river mouth. I saw some nasty stuff floating by.

I ain't going back!

Hi!
We ve been to Tamarindo Jul 2011, but really - it was to crowded, .too expensive.. We had good time partying & shopping though:)
Later we moved to Jaco and Dominical and have to admit that Dominical was GREAT!:) natural, pure, easy night life (bars, some parties), beutiful nature, no crowd!!:)

I was checking most of the surf camps and surf shops in Tamarindo, WR its too over rated and noisy for me, but if y'r a girl you can get all the instructors attetion..not my case. I fund Costa Rica Surf Club, we were two guys and a guide going daily searching for waves avoiding the crowd, there are a few more small surf camps that really take you surf not like herding cattle, also reading about Tamarindo here i can say it was clean, crowded just if you surf in front of WR surf camp and safe, its all about to get the right info/tips from the right people. I have never been to Witches Rock Surf Camp, but surfed Tamarindo 2 years ago and was very dissapointed by how crowded it was, especially since the waves were not very good on the days I was there.

There are better spots in Costa Rica for a surf trip.
