Safety in Tamarindo, Costa Rica

« on: January 14 2012 10:01:00 »

I am thinking about going to Tamarindo this summer, but read at several places that there is a drug problem in the town with theft and lots of crack heads roaming the streets at night.

Anyone been in Tamarindo recently?
Help is appreciated.

Some car window smashing and late night thieves and minor robberies.

Dont leave your car with all your luggage or a backpack alone on the beach like any other town in the world, if you deal with drug dealers may happens what happens when you deal with drug dealers. it was safe at night also for single girls and there was police on bikes and motorbikes everywhere, from what i saw its more a family town than a party town (Jaco its a party town) of course the crowd after 10 pm is not a "family kind" like always everywhere but really safe and fun.

I went to Tamarindo and felt very safe. We got stopped by the police on the way to the airport. They searched us for drugs but were very friendly.
