i am travellin to cr the start of jan for my first time. i live in australia and have heard it is very cheap to live and travel there. all i want is a place to stay that is either on or very close to beach because all i want to do is surf and eat well. maybe have a few drinks in the evening. how much should i budget for each week?

I lived in costa rica for 2 months over the summer. In a town called Jaco where you could eat for about $15 a day depending on where and what you ate. Drinks for girls can be free every night if you know the right bar to go to. I know in Jaco you can get an appartment for $200 or a litttle more a month, but they also have hostiles there that are cheap. Traveling and living in costa rica is really cheap. a good meal at a good restuarant no more then $7, a cab ride in Jaco 500 colones. with the exchange rate not sure how much that is now. good luck and have a fun trip!

I went to CR for a month Nov-Dec. I tried to play $10 or less a night at hostels/hotels (really easy to do) ate out 1 meal a day (stayed in places with kitchens and cooked the rest of the time) traveled by bus and allowed for a few brews a night and only spent $450 the whole time. Eatting out will get you, along with tour groups and renting boards..... oh yeah and buying the ladies drinks, but other than that its fairly inexpensive!

in most places theres a girls night at one of the bars every night. they have certain drinks that girls get free. sometimes its until a certain time other times its all night. depends on the bar. if you are going to Jaco and wanna know which bars have girls nights and when, if they are the same as the summer i can give you an idea of which bar which night. from what i remember monday-friday someplace had a girls night. I think in tamriendo they had it too.

oo i live here is just the awsome place you can travel!!! is vry cheap, jaco is the city that lives from surfing, hotels , bitches, and drugs.. from the airport to jaco is just 1;30 hours, and the longest is like 4-5 hours because of the roads, then in the beach NEVER EVER leave your things here in cr specially in the beaches there is alot of bad people (thiefs) so be aware, very calm country but be aware....
