Going to Costa Rica in July, need recommendations« on: June 02 2007 21:06:00 »
Hi everyone, I'm planning a 5 weeks trip to Costa Rica in July and August and haven't really thought about it, time to activate! I'll be on my own and plan to travel around, meet people, and surf every time a new sun rises. I speak fluent Spanish and have to budget carefully. Also, being a girl, I wanna make sure I don't end up in dodgy (sketchy!!) places. Any recommendations on accomodations, where to go first etc. will be welcome. Thanks. Oh my God, I cannot wait to be there!!

Do you have a general area of the country you are going to be iin? I have been down here since apr. and will be staying until aug. I have been in the pacific northwest or Guanacaste region and can reccomend some spots around here if you would like. Just drop me an email.

Thanks, will email you. I'll have to go somewhere where I can buy boards when I get there, so I guess somewhere crowded! Probably Playa Hermosa as it seems easy enough to get to from San Jose airport. I'm travelling from the Philippines and airlines rates for surf boards are ridiculous. After that, I'm open to anything, I'd like to go down the Pacific coast.

Thanks for that. Can you tell me if they have second hand boards? I'd like to get a couple of boards (probably 6'1 and a 5´8 fish) and can't really afford 2 brand new ones... Thanks for the places you mentioned, they're all on the list!

HI! I was wondering how your trip to Costa in July and August ('07) was? I am a female who speaks Spanish also, and I'd love to go surf there over the summer of '08. I've surfed Dominical in the past, but that's it. Specifically, did you feel safe/unsafe travelling to certain places??
Thanks for your reply...and would you like to go again this summer???
