Surfing Dominican Republic... what to expect

« on: December 05 2012 13:12:00 »

Thinking about a trip to the Dominican republic with my BF.
He's a pretty good surfer, I am an intermediate.

What is the average wave size at Playa Encuentro in February?
How crowded is it?
What is the vibe like?

Gracias

February is a great time for surfing in the DR for surfers of all levels.
Consistent waves in the head high to 1,5 over head range.
Crowds: you will not ne surfing by yourself, but there's enough waves for anyone and the vibe is generally very chill, as long as you stick to the basic rules: give respect to the locals, don't drop in etc.
Have fun
