dont take the cab. take caribe tours bus. its cheap and fast. ask any cab driver in sto domingo for caribe tours bus stop for the north coast. very important!!!! it is freeeeeeeeeeeezing cold in the bus. take all sweaters and jackets into the bus. otherwise you will get sick . i promise!
in cabarete stay at extremehotels and ask for josh, the manager. believe me now and thank me later

It's dead at Extreme hotel. The guys don't surf. Stay at Ali's for the inside on the right surfspots, transport to the different surf spots and a super social atmosphere.

Hang out at Extreme if your a poser.

Yah, cheapest way is bus. Cab is much faster, but lots more $$. Straight shot, it's 4 hours. Road is highway, moves well. Cabarete has everything from surf slummin' to high-end luxe. Your pick. Many places to lodge are very booked during 2006 winter, esp now that Cancun is on its ass from hurricanes.
