Surfing Cabarete« on: September 27 2004 05:09:00 »
I know Cabarete is more a kite surfing and wind surfing place, but can any descent surfing be done in Cabarete itself.
so instead of surfing at Encuentro like I read on this site, how good is the surf in Cabarete town? Any surfing at the beach breaks?
What is a good surfers place to stay in Cabarete as well, any good hotels, surf camps there?
Help is much appreciate.

Surfing in Cabarete definetly is limited to win and Kite, there are some spots west and east of Cabarete that are really good for surfing though.

I'm coming down to Cabarete on Nov.6/04 and looking for someone to show me some of the best spots (to surf and to party). I'll be staying at the Breezes resort, I've heard there is a spot right off the beach (el canal)?? Any help would be cool.

Go to Ali's surf camp in Cabarete and ask for Juan, he can tell you where to go, and how to get there. Or go to Encuentro and ask for Renee at the surf board hire shop there.

Should I bring my own body board or can I rent a nice one there . What are the winds like in January?

I think you can get a hold of them in Cabarete or rent them @ Encuentro.
