May25-June1 Surfing North Coast

Hi All, I am going to be visiting the Playa Dorada area during this time and want to get out to surf as much as possible. Anyone going to be there then? Where are the best spots for someone that can ride, but is a shade under full blown intermediate rider? Any recomendations on where to rent, how to get there the cheapest way from hotels, and anything else anyone wants share?

THANKS!

RE: May25-June1 Surfing North Coast

I don't know if there is anything really close to Playa Dorado (this is more the really touristy place with only organised activities). I think the best is to go to Encuentro. From Playa Dorado it is about 20 minutes by car. You can take a cap or take the guagua. The guaguags are local busses which you recognise because they are packed with Dominicans and have on their windows the words: Puerto Plata - Rio San Juan. They drive along the main road. The price is 30 peso to go to Encuentro, so cheap.
