SURFING IN PUNTA CANA« on: November 30 2004 10:11:00 »
hello everyone. I will be getting married in nov.2005 in punta cana and would like to know if there is any surf spots around punta cana as well as shops/lessons. I know this is a pretty boring, standard question but myself and the wedding party would like to go as we are from canada and the only surfing we get to do is in tofino, b.c. which rocks but were talking some damn cold water. any help would be great and I cannot wait to visit your country.

I have not surfed there or talked to anyone who has, but there IS surf there. I flew out low Feb. '03 and could see it was going off right in front of the hotels, looked better further to the west tho. Definitely worth investigating in winter.

Hey Scott ,Istayed at Secret's in Punta Cana (great place). There is a fun break just in front of the hotel. I asked around and found that it is the only consistant break in Punta Cana.
Bring your own board because there is not a surf shop or another surfer around. The water is beautifull and the wave is all yours. Enjoy.

Is this near all the other resort areas in Punta Cana? Is it easy to get to?

Secrets is pretty much all on its own. Nearest resort is a mile or so down to the east. I think it's the Serinis Cocatel or something like that. Also try a Land taxi or a Water Taxi to Macao beach. A few miles of more exposed beach nreaks

How good are we talking at secrets? And is it easy to access from the other resorts?

I am thinking about heading down to Punta Cana either in early June '05 or late August '05. I was wondring if the waves are any good at these times of the year. Or are they only good in the winter months? I am in desparate need of a surf trip and these seem to be the only times I would be able to go. If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
