Punta Cana Surf« on: August 14 2006 03:08:00 »
We're thinking of taking a trip to the DR in December and I'd like to do some surfing. After looking at the messages on this board, it seems that the best spots are on the north coast. Unfortunately, we'll be staying in Punta Cana at the Ocean Sand Resort (going w/ the in-laws).
Will it be possible/practical to get some surfing in? Will I have to rent a car/Jeep? Should i bring my own boards? Are there surf shops in Punta Cana? Will it be practical for me to plan a day trip to the north coast?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

No surf in Punta Cana....Embassy Beach in between Juan Dolio & Boca Chicawould be your closest bet...not particularly consistent for surfing, either....
you need to rent a car, yes....not worth it to bring boards if you are staying in Punta Cana...go diving instead.
