Surfing in the Dominican Republic

« on: November 05 2006 12:11:00 »

I am going to the Casa de Campo resort in February and was wondering if anyone knew a decent surf spot not too far away. I'm pretty sure it is somewhere by La Romana on the South coast. I'm an intermediate short-boarder and just want an average sized ridable break. Please comment back.

The nearest surfing beach would be Macao, 1.5 h drive. That would be on the south shore but east to Romana. Another posibility would be a beach called La Boya, in a town called Boca Chica, near Santo Domingo Internatinal Airport, about 1.5 h drive west to Romana.
