drive from Santa Domingo to North Coast?

« on: April 21 2009 17:04:00 »

I am flying into Santa Domingo airport then was planning on driving up to the North Coast to surf for a few days. Is this recommended or should I fly? How long is the drive? Any interesting stops along the way to visit? Also, where is most consistent break this time of year and any suggestions for mid-range accommodations for me and a girlfriend?

Hi Skot
The drive is about 2,5 to 3 hours and the mountain bit from Santiago to the north coast is nice.

Most consistent surfing spot here is Encuentro, 2 miles away from Cabarete, lots of mid range hotels in the center of town.
Have fun
