New Surfer in Punta Cana« on: February 01 2010 19:02:00 »
I'm going to Punta Cana for a week in March 15-22, I was wondering if anyone could tell me where a good surf sppot is and also how to get a board. I have never surfed before but i'm very athletic and have snow boarded and skateboarded all my life. I would like a board like the ones you would see on a surf magazine. Can someone recomend a board and where I should get it and also what a good spot is to surf, I have heard that Playa Macao is my best bet?

Kevin and Charles, Did you guys find a guy or a place to surf...I'm going to be there as well March 18th-23rd. I'm staying on Bavaro beach as that seems to be the best bet for waves near the all-inclusive resorts.
Looking hard for a place to surf/rent and probably get a guide if there are any down there. Did you guys try calling the number listed below? Let me know what you guys dug up.

I'm planning a surf trip along Playa Bavaro in mid-May as well. Am having a hard time finding a hotel that's good, but not luxury.

I am going on a trip with my family to punta cana in the end of june early july. I am an experienced surfer and was wondering how you guys made out with the surf and also if any has any info on average swell patterns in punta cana around that time. Also if there are any reliable sites where i could get long range forecasts ( around a week in length) so i can plan if im going to bring boards or not. thanks
