Okay guys, DON'T WORRY!!!!! You walk to the end of the path towards the marina, at 8 or 9 in the mornings (fiji time) a fijian called little John, (his dad was called big john, who was a huge Fijian! He died) operates a decent longboat and will take you to the surf for 30 or 40 fijian, less than 25 us. It's 5 miles top the reef, you can only surf on Wilkes pass, get's crowded, super nice wave though, right hander. We live on a 12 mtr sailing boat down there and will be back there mayish, and could take guys out to the surf as well, we can go to other breaks further out and uncrowded as well. We try to go out every day. Or could hook you up with other yachties who surf. Ask for Don on the catemarran (boat) called Corromandel. He could help advise.

Going to Malolo Lailai in April 2008 with my wife and looking for someone to kiteboard, surf, and/or sail with. It's hard for us to sit and chill on the beach and we're looking for a local to show us the sites. We can bring something from California as a trade or just because. I've surfed Frigates, Wilkes and Mini-pipe before and loved every minute of it.
Hopefully, someone reads this and will respond before we leave. Wishing you all the best! BULA!

When you get there ask around the locals for Suji.
He will take you for a morning for $50 if there is at least 2 surfers.
His phone number is.
Musket cove is 10 mins walk to the other end of the island and you can get picked up from either Musket cove or Plantation island.
Big john and suji are brothers, either one will take you.
Any questions email me and I can provide his phone number.
