Beginner surf in Fiji

« on: February 16 2006 19:02:00 »

I have three children 14 - 19 who are beginner surfers.  Are there any good breaks for them on Viti Levu?  They are surfing minimals at the moment.
Do we need to take our boards or can we hire them?

I don't know if there's really any beginner surf in Fiji as it's mostly coral reef breaks, & I wouldn't class these as being a good place to learn. There are beach breaks at Sigatoka (which I haven't surfed so can't really comment on) but I'd be thinking most spots are for intermediate at the very least. Maybe someone else will chime in with a bit more knowledge than I have.

Check Natadola inside lefts. Great for little ones. Needs a huge SW swell.
