Nagigia Island« on: July 01 2004 11:07:00 »
I will be traveling to Nagigia Island in mid October. I will be staying at the Seashell for a week(surfing Wilkes, Lighthouse, etc.) and then traveling out to Nagigia to surf King Kong lefts. Has anyone been there during October, and if so, do you advise bringing any boards over 6'6". I don't ride longboards either. Thanks!

I would bring a 6'9 mini gun if it get barreling, hollow and fast once every while.
How much is tht place these days?

It's pretty cheap. Me and my girlfriend are going to be staying in our own delux bure including all meals for a week for about $1,000. Not a bad price for a quality wave in paradise all to yourself. I can't wait.

I am staying at the Seashell Resort for the first part of my trip. I heard that it's not that great of a place. Has anyone been there? And, how bad is it??

I stayed at Seashell and I thought it was a fine place to tay. Social atmosphere, the surf was wicked. It's just that when there' no surf there's not an aweful lot to do, maybe some mud golf

I have stayed 10 days in seashell cove. There were good waves for about 6 days out of it. You getting all right return for your money (reasonably cheap) but you pay through your nose for some extras such as water (the water available to guests are not clean and to buy mineral water is VERY expensive). I agree that it is boring place when you dont surf, and if you feel like snorkeling you have to take a boat (expensive trips for an hour of snorkeling). The communal toilets were blocked on a daily basis and the smell got into the rooms. It was only cleaned once a day and it seems like an hour later it was all messed up again. If you dont mind those small problems you will have a ball within reasonable budget. Another tip is if you feel like snacking etc, I suggest you make a 2 minutes walk to the "supermarket" outside the resort which is super cheap!!!.

stayed a week at seashell.. though a few kava parties and enjoyed playin the acoustic bass.... you boat out when they can get it together... surf as long as you can in one go out, then head back.... low tide the place turns into a mudhole... food wasnt all that great so good place to drop a few pounds...owner son i believe seemed a tad off and not all to friendly. rooms are simple and clean and not a very picturesqe spot.. if your thinkin swaying palms and white sand beaches book somwhere else... but a good place to go with a few mates if your on a budget.

Do you think that my fiance and I, who are marrying in Fiji, and staying a week at a fancy island first, then adding on a week to go surfing at seashells...should stay in a bure then, as opposed to a lodge room?
He surfs, and I bodyboard. I'm also wondering if I will be able to handle the breaks in Fiji. I've been bodyboarding for a couple of years, and am pretty keen.
We'll have 2 weeks on the smaller islands, before thinking of adding the week at seashells.
