RE: Any one stay at Beqa Laggon Resort? Frigates in Sept?« Reply #1 on: October 10 2006 18:10:00 »
I stayed at Lalati Resort (on Beqa) in May and had an outrageous time. We surfed Frigate's (and dove the wall at Frigate's too) about 4 times and caught it double overhead and barreling. The entire island of Beqa is beautiful. Beqa Lagoon Resort is nice but it is mainly a family dive resort. Not too focused on surftrips. They will take you to Frigate's but surfing is not their top priority.
Hope that helps...Ted

I went to Beqa Lagoon and it was a great dive resort. I went surfing and caught it 6-8ft going off. Do you have any pictures of the days you caught it? It is definatly more of a dive reosrt.

How was the Beqa Lagoon Resort or Lalati Resort for a honeymoon. Thought i could take the misses somewhere nice, and sneak off for the odd surf.
Does it take long to get to Frigates?
Do you have to go for the day or can you go for a few hours?
Did you see other resorts on Beqa that would suit a honeymoon better (you know, nice swimming pools, nice beach etc.)

If you are going for a Honeymoon I would say it is a nice place to go. There is a pool right on the ocean and the food is amazing. The surf trips are in the morning and it takes an hour to get there. My wife and I went on a dive/surf trip. I would not go back for a surf trip with me and my buddies as it does not totally cater to surfers. You would deo good there on a honey moon since you will not be surfing every day.
a. Make sure you take the Hammhead boat to the surf since it is faster and does not brake down like the one I was on. (the manager will not want you to use this boat because of gas but that is the boat that wavehunter advertises they use)
