shangrila / fijian resort

« on: January 25 2005 21:01:00 »

Has anyone stayed here and surfed out the front, I've heard there's a decent right hander. What's the wave like and how far is the paddle out. Is there a hotel boat that cheap to use.
Whats the next closet wave?

fijian right is ok. paddle out from beach. watch tide for long paddle back. best in west-ish swell. watch out for sly south cleanup swells. i saw a tiny just make it over one. also try sigatoka sand dunes/rivermouth just south of fijian. cheers/bula.

So the spot you called sigatoka sanddunes/rivermouth, how far away is it from the shangrila fijian? is there surf at the fijian and sigatoka all the time or just occassionally.

sand dunes are about 15 min drive south of fijian resort, if you reach sigatoka, youth gone too far! its pretty consistant left or right and it has its moments. gets southerly ground swells and s/e trade wind swells can also be o.k, but small. try the sucky right at hideway resort, a little further south again.
