Surf in Nagigia Resort« on: March 20 2007 06:03:00 »
I'm planning on spending 5 days at the Nagigia (king kongs) in June 2007. Firstly is it worthwhile staying there as it seems quite an effort to get there. Secondly are the waves good enough to travel so far or would I be better of staying at plantation island & catching the boat each morning to Lighthouse, Wilkes, Swimming pools or cloudbreak/namotu (saturdays).
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

I am also looking to travel to Nagigia in June. Right now I'm in Melbourne for a semester and was going to stop there before heading back to the States. Let me know if you come across any good info. about this spot. firstname.lastname@example.org. Maybe I will see you there.

We went a few years ago in July. We weren't allowed to surf on Sunday (which was the best day). Instead we sat in church for 2 hours and looked out the door at the waves while trying not to pass out because of the heat and bad air...Monday morning saw a huge storm move in and we were without power for 2 days. Of the remaing days we had a few waves at Kong's that were head high but closing out. We were told the swell direction was wrong. The most fun we had was snorkling down a nearby reef and catching a good-sized wahoo. The trip was over-priced, the waves are over-rated and fickle, and the staff was aloof. Not a good surf trip.

I'm going to Fiji at the end of June, beginning of July as was thinking of heading there too for a few nights or maybe the week...would anyone recommend it or have any other suggestions. I'm only a beginner & have just done a surf camp in OZ!

May be a little late for this post but just in case somebody else looks at this page in the future.... I stayed at Nagigia 2 yr ago in mud sept. I had a great time. The surf was never perfect but it was always surfable. The couple who run the island were lovely. Sure it is an effort to get too but that just ads to the adventure. I am heading back again soon.
