Mate, Take your surf board !! The surf rocks over there. There are all types of waves. LEfts, rights big and small. Water quality is amasing. But its dam hot.
You will need a boat to get to the waves but your island should be able to hook you up.
I went to this area at the end of last year and will go back for sure.

I stayed at plantation about 7 years ago and teamed with another bloke and just hired a driver with a boat and outboard motor. He would drop us off about 15 minutes offshore at magic island which appeared to be a reef that appeared at low tide and was not really visble at high tide;hazy memory .We paid him something like 15 to 20 bucks between us and had some great sessions off this reef. The water was so clear that at first I would pull back off a wave when taking off cause it was so high vis water that the rocks were real visible and I thought it was too shallow but it was about 6 foot deep.

I'm going to plantation Island in Sept and have done some research as I too wondered the same thing. I've found out that the resort offers a surf safari trip for $30FD to Wilkie's passage and Namotu every day and Couldbreak for $40FD on Saturdays.Take your board otherwise you may regret because all 3 breaks are world class.

Thanks for all the info guys.
I'm going to plantation late Aug/early Sept as well. Had heard about the boat trips but it's nice to see they run daily. I may see you there.
Does anyone know if reef booties are a must have?

Hey mate. My partner and I are currently planning our wedding at Plantation Island Resort for next May. Just wondering how you found the hotel and the surf when you went.
