Can an intermediate surf most breaks in Fiji?« on: August 03 2004 21:08:00 »
HI...my fiance and I are marrying in Fiji end of next April, and spending a week after that at a small island. I know he would LOVE it, if we extened our trip to include some time surfing. He is a keen surfer, and I bodyboard.
I am looking at adding on a week at seashell resort, which offers surf trips to places like Namotu, Wilkes, Swimming Pools, and on Saturdays, Cloudbreak.
I would love to be able to go surfing with him. I've been bodyboarding for a couple of years now, and have surfed a reefbreak in Australia before (in small conditions).
I'm just wondering if I will be able to handle these breaks in Fiji? How tough are they? How hard is the takeoff? Keeping in mind I'm bodyboarding.

For sure, went there a few years back and surfed wilkes no problems. Can get big like any break and its over coral that gets shallow up to around waist to chest depth. When i was there it was a heaps easy paddle into and drop. Loads of fun
