Surf Spots on the Coral Coast

My partner and I are heading to Fiji in December for a surfing trip. We are staying at the Warwick Fiji- we want to know if we can get to some waves pretty easy- do boats take people out to the breaks or are we too far away from any surf spots?

RE: Surf Spots on the Coral Coast

Stayed at the Hideaway 2 months ago with the wife and kids. Went out surfing twice with Waidroka. They are about 50min drive from the Hideaway or the Warwick. Taxi price was a bit steep on the first day but on the second day we negotiated with return and got a better price. Called Waidroka several days and talked to a guy called Michael who turned out to be the owner. After 3 days he said swell was up and I made it down there next morning. Had to get up early around 6 to make it there in time. Boat trip was 60 Fijian to Frigates. Great 6-8ft waves on that day, even a bit to big for a guy that doesn't surf as much any more. Ask when the boat is supposed to be back and have the taxi come to get you. Next time  I wouldn't even bring a board, they hire boards around 40 Fijian a day, not worth taking my board and paying overweight for 2 days of surfing on a family trip.
