Why would anyone pay some guy to surf a place, (cloudbreak), that he thinks he owns. I would rather sleep in the dirt, and surf an average beachbreak with some bros, and keep my integrity intact, than pay some guy, (who has sold his soul), to surf some break, that he thinks he owns.

Why? because it's one of the best waves in the world and uncrowded.
That doesn't mean I agree with the pay to play setup of exclusive waves in the middle of nowehere.

I can understand why someone would want to surf cloudbreak,I don"t understand why someone would actually "pay" to surf it. The whole concept of actually paying someone to surf a wave ,is so offensive and opposite to what surfing is all about, and just promotes more of this type of exploitation and greed.

Why pay? Coz money is just a number to some people. Its who gets the money thats the problem. He probably doesnt give a shit where you sleep either.

your thinkng like the rules that you grew up with in a western country should apply every where.HOW would you like it if someone came into your yard and started cooking a BBQ , or even ate out of your cupboard because in a ot of other cultures what is yours is everyones. The fact is that because Fiji is an island nation with limited land , for thousands of years each community or tribe instead owned part of the reef , ITS THEIRS just like your back yard. Don't force your own culture onto some body else, I hear enough people saying that if someone wants to come here ( our country ) then they should do as we do not like they do back where they come from.

OK.Maybe it is theirs. Fine. Let them keep it. It doesn"T mean I have to be a part of their profit making scheme. Like I said before, I"d rather sleep in the dirt, and surf an average beach break with some bros, and keep my integrity and soul intact, than pay some guys( who have sold their soul )to surf some break, that they think they own, or think that they control.

I couldn't surf Bondi Beach back in the 1960s cause the board I had wasn't registered. I got chased off the beach by the lifegard when I was 15 yr old. I couldn't afford the registered fee and had to sit up in the grass all day waiting for my older brother to pick me up.
It's not the case anymore in Australia as far as I know. ( The fact of having to have a surfboard registered)
I hate seeing kids run up to pay fees to surf in a comp too. Surfing Prostitution !!!

Apparently a council somewhere around near Carolinia
on the East Coast of the USA baned surfing alltogether for a few years.
So maybe it is not so bad to pay as at least you can go out.
