Big Wave Swimming

« on: May 12 2009 06:05:00 »

I'm not a surfer. And I don't plan to learn it.
I'm just fascinated by big waves and that's why I love to swim in such.
Now I'm looking for a place (anywhere on the world) where I can find a nice beach with big waves that are not too dangerous to swim in. The most surf spots I found are not directly at the beach, rather some miles away from the beach, that's not relevant for me since I can't swim that far :p

Also it would be awesome if it's a nice place ;)

Thank you,

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. big waves or waves with over 10' faces are dangerous to anyone who cant swim 2 miles in the ocean. i would suggest you start by bodysurfing waves you are comfortable with and work your way up. waves breaking over sand bottom would be the better choice too. good luck!

Thanks for your post!

I'm not looking for anything bigger than 10 feet ;)
I just don't like boring beaches with 2 inch waves...

Thinking about Maui currently.. what do you think?

It should be a place with big waves and beautiful to make holidays, too
