Buying boards out in Hossegor / Travel« on: May 22 2006 06:05:00 »
Hi. I'm planning a surf trip to the Hossegor area in the last two weeks of August. Would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me if its worth buying a board out there (looking for a 6'8 - ideally 2nd hand, on a bit of a shoestring) and also what the cheapest way of travelling there is.
There's probably three of us, all 23 and intermediate surfers. Thinking at the moment about hiring a van from the UK.
Any advice would be awesome!

Yeah there are alot of cheap hostels in the area. I had a friend who went there and I am goin with another buddy in may. bus routes are the cheapest i hear but a car rental isn't a bad idea cause you can reach some more uncrowded spots. have a good one.

We are out in hossegor at the moment and have a board that we want to sell. Ideally we want to sell a long board (10ft6) for 550 euros but also have a 7ft3 mini mal (bic) - (100 euros) but if these are too long for you there are a few places around to get secondhand boards (if thats what you;re after). Try the centre commercial just outside Soorts Hossegor (next to the intermarche) as there are loads of surf shops there with second hand and new boards - also a bit cheaper then those in town i think.
If you are interested in either of our boards get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org. If not maybe see you here!

E-bay is the cheapest. There are 2nd hand boards mini-mal type which is what you want. Do not buy a bic (horrible plastic thing that you will throw after two weeks/ the shops will try and sell you one). Locals advertise boards in the newsagents windows next to the bridge into town. Buy off them. The more dings and knocks the cheaper you can get it. Dings are fine it just doesn't look as good. Avoid salt water damage. Good luck.
