was wonderin what the crowds are really like in this region,ive surfed in australia before where the crowds are notorious,is it that bad?and is the localism bad?cos im thinkin of headin here on my own for surf and id prefer if i didnt get dropped in on. also does anyone know if you can manage without a car? cheers.

Don't forget you'll end up in the basque country so be respecfull and you'll be respected as any where else! But don't forget that we have 3 major sport activities:
1.surf, 2. Rugby 3. kiking english speaking buts!

Surfing being the No. 1 sport ? When was the last time a French surfer won a world title ? You'll be fine Gerald the rules that apply to surfing are usually universal. However if you prefer not to get dropped in on in France I suggest take up playing rugby.

that sounds cool,well looks like im in luck i do play rugby! mickel picon is pretty good surfer i have him on my fantasysurfer team.just worried that i wont go for enough waves cos dont like surfin in crowds and tend to let others have the waves..

Really enjoyed Biarritz. Was on a backpacker trip, so didn't have a car and didn't mind walking a little or taking the bus. Though I speak french...

there is no problem surfing here at ALL!!! if you make sure you're better than average...you will be fine...most of the brakes are wide and so you can find your own spot! if you meet a maroccan guy (karim) who is quite good (surfs for quicksilver)...make sure you drop in on him, at least twices, and tell him the dutch (Nils, friend of Eddy) says Hi...have fun man...
