17 year old inexperienced traveller seeking advice

wad up,

i am planning to hike/train/hitchhike from Bretagne North down to Cote Basque during the summer months of July and August surfing on the way

firstly how long do you reckon it would take

secondly ive got an old shortboard which i could take with me and would this be practical for my adventure

thirdly what is the situation on hiring boards cos it looks like from the maps that the Brittany surf spots in particular are pretty isolated and i cant imagine a surf shop being above a deserted cove

I would appreciate any advice on either how stupid my plan is or on how i should carry out my journey as i am still young and have alot to learn

Laurie Marjoram, Norwich

Oh yeah and as i would be backpacking i was planning on not taking a wetsuit, is that stupid?
