France - less crowded beaches?

hey everybody,

i was wondering if you could direct me to any quieter beaches in france?
me and my mates are driving from spain to france, taking the whole of august to do it. i would go later in the year but ive got to be in uni.

ive been to biarritz before and had an amazing time there but the waves were maddeningly packed at anglet every day.

i was wondering if further north or south we might find a quieter spot? im happy to put in some extra legwork or maybe miss out on the nightlife to find a less crowded break.
i thought somewhere like lacanau, you might be able to walk along the beach until you find a chilled spot.

any suggestions?

RE: France - less crowded beaches?

Hi there,

The quietestes beaches between Anglet and Bordeaux are around Mimizan. Lit-et-Mixe is very wild with excellent surf spots. Contis is similar to Lacanau as far as shops and restaurants and great night life too.
