South West France surf Trip

« on: April 27 2010 23:04:00 »

Hi,

Me (intermediate surfer) and girlfriend (beginner surfer) are starting to plan a surf trip down South West of France in my Van for 18 days in July this year.

We are thinking of staying at; Lacanau for 5 days before heading to Hossegor/Bidart/Birtiz.  Can any recommend a good place to base yourself out of in the Hossegor/ Biritz area?

Can anyone recommend good breaks down the West Coast of France?  Any recommended campsites?

Cheers,
Tim

Hey dude.
From Bidart to Hossegor there is a bunch of camping place. There are pretty cheap.

Personaly, as you guys are Intermediate/beginer I you recomand Anglet (North of biarrtiz) whitch is a great surf spot and a lot of concert and stuff by night.
Biarritz is okey but quite flat- easy surf.
Bidart rocks sometimes but watch for the rocks during the low tide.
Hossegor is the best place for good surfers. Fast waves, tubes, lot of power but also very crowded.

Asked if you need help bro.
Cheers
