Eerie feeling ?« on: October 30 2007 03:10:00 »
Have you ever gotten an eeire feeling while in the lineup that you are not alone out there and something nasty and sharp is cruising nearby? Ever see those documentaries where all of a sudden all the fish on the reef disappear and then you see a large predator swim into camera view? That sense that all of a sudden, there is something below you as you sit on your board waiting. You either paddle into the break to confuse it or you pull your feet up onto your board and wait for the feeling to disappear. I HATE that feeling. It happened the other day to me. Anyone else get that awful sixth sense feeling or is it just me?

When you get that, pay attention!! Not often, but yes, I have had that feeling also. I hate it too, but I listen to it. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Time to catch the next wave! Sorry for shoulder hopping you, brah, but I'm not on the menu this week.

Next time you two sheilas go in the water, make sure the drain plug is in the tub. What a bunch of nancys!
Why not confront your fears and dive down to see what it is that spooked you, next time it happens? Now that's what a man would do!

Very funny, TTB. Sorry bud, I pay attention to my senses and when they tell me something is around, I listen. Dive down? Uhh, tempting, but no. I'll take a pass on that one.

Give me a break, even if there is a shark around, he usually won't bother you, you are not on the menu. If we were on the shark list of goodies, we would have learned thousands of years ago to stay out of the water. The only time people get bitten is by mistaken identity, the shark thinks you are something else that IS on it's preferred food list and when it does bite, nine times out of ten, it lets go when it realizes what it has bitten. So even if your sixth sense is kicking in, don't worry, just keep surfing.

White pointer, tiger, bull, blue, white tip reef. Dangerous, even if it is a mistaken identity. They are trash eaters or blubber eaters and munch on anything they may come across, depending on how hungry they are.
An interesting study shows a black and white pattern can mean, do not eat. So look like a zebra and you only have to watch out for crocs. Stay out of murky waters, rivermouths and avoid low light conditions when surfing, like dawn and dusk. Best advice.

I get that eerie feeling sometimes and I live in a part of the world where there are little or no dangerous things.
Perhaps parts of the sea have some sort of spirits there or something?
