38, out of shape, but want to learn to surf« on: November 11 2007 23:11:00 »
Here's my situation: I'm 38 years old and overweight, but I've wanted to learn to surf my whole life. I've always been fascinated by it.
So, any advice from surfers out there on how to get started and any kind of preparation I should do? I figure surfing would definitely get me in shape and be addictive as well. It's the one exercise I think I could stick to.
Also, I'd like to learn somewhere inexpensive and tropical, like Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, etc. Any recommendations on good folks to learn from or good places to get lessons?
Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks folks!
