Medical/surf trip to Haiti« on: July 25 2007 17:07:00 »
I am an emergency medicine physician looking for a place to take 6 other physicians (all in our 20's-30's) for an int'l medical trip for the month of Sept. Several of us surf. Would like to come to Haiti for a medical/surf trip.
Anyone know of specific needs near surf spots or contacts for someone who might know? How feasible would this be?
Unfortunately, I am under a time crunch (2 days --by this Friday July 27) to chose a destination and come up with a general plan.
Thanks, J. Wayne

How did you make out with this? I am an surfing ERP as well--and was just asked to go on a medical mission trip to Haiti. Can you give me any useful info?

I am also eager to see how your surf experience was. I was there as a medical volunteer shortly after the earthquake. I was so moved by my experience that I wrote the biography of two Haitian Brothers that I met. It's called, "Teeth Not Tears: Smiles Through the Rubble." But I'm writing to see if anyone here is interested in Surfing 4 Haiti?? It is a movement that I am kicking off with a surfing contest in San Diego! It will raise money for schools and scholarship funds with the initiative of "Teach a person to fish..." Let me know if you are interested or would like to help!
