Surfing Hawaii Dec/Jan - beginner/intermediate?« on: November 26 2015 09:11:00 »
Hey! We're looking to spend 1-2 weeks in Hawaii over Christmas & New Years this year. One of us is a beginner and the other beginner/intermediate, so I'm looking to understand where our best number of beginner-friendly beaches are? I hate crowds, and from what it sounds like many beaches are packed... any info is appreciated - which island(s)? Which beaches? Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for mellow surf spots, the south coasts are your best bet for surfing in hawaii for that time of the year. Low crowds? Keep dreaming..

Thanks JJ. Still having a hard time figuring out where on all the Hawaiian islands to go over Xmas/New Years, for beginner/intermediate surf. Just read a post that said Waikiki is flat in winter?? Is that true? I'm surprised at how hard this is to figure out where to surf! Any tips are appreciated - thanks!
