there's a lot of cheap places in waikiki to stay, just dont get a place next to the beach. if you can sacrifices a few block from the water, that would be awesome. i just got back from waikiki and cant wait to move there by november, just in time for winter. im a begginer myself and cant wait to buy my own board. if you want to learn start in waikiki. if you think you can do it, hike to north shore you'll love it. drop me a note. good luck...

Dont listen to the idot saying that you should head to the north shore if you feal good.. You woulnt be good and you have to be a pro to go out there and not get your ass kicked.. soo stick to town

I went to hawaii once in the summertime and there was no empty spots so I'm sure that if you go in the wintertime there really won't be but do what you wanna have fun and aloha
