lesson recommendations for beginner surfer in ohau in Dec

« on: December 03 2008 03:12:00 »

Hi,

I'm heading to ohau in December and want to learn how to surf. Can anyone recommend a school/ lesson/ rental shop/ good places to eat/ anything fun, but most importantly, I want to learn how to surf, n surf well.

Also, what are the waves like in December? Beginner friendly?

Cheers!!

school try http://www.locoboyzsurf.com/ on kapahulu or surf and sea on the north shore.  north shore is big this time of year, but if u catch a small enough day it could be fun and well worth going up there.  south shore will be small so don't worry.  perfect time to learn ;)

rental shop, try quality surfboards on ena road (i think) http://www.qualitysurfboardshawaii.com/ or blue planet on kapahulu.  guys that work at both places are super nice.  not sure about the prices, you're gon have to check.  great thing about quality surfboards is you can walk right out to ala moana beach from the shop in about 15 min.  unless you have a car.  just drive then lol

continued..

if you know anyone at university of hawaii, they have a surf school and rental shop there as well, and the prices are much better.  but don't know how good the surf school is.  you need someone with a valid UH student ID to rent, and i believe you also need for the lesson.

food and anything fun.. shoot me an email.  i can get pretty detailed on this one, so don't want to flood the forum :P
