Got wheels?  On the North Shore, Chun's, Leftover's, Jocko's, Holten's, Laniakea,Gas Chambers & Puena Point offer non-crusher surf at 6 ft. or so.  When the winds are south, a host of spots show up on the North & East shores.  Makaha's good on the west side, & alot mellower vibe than in the past.   South shore, take your pick, from Magic Island to Hawaii Kai,- lots of spots, depending on wind strength. Ask around for directions.   Have fun, Lance

try look on craigslist short term listings.  might get lucky.  should be some hostels in waikiki too.  can rent a bike with a rack, or by one and resell it.
