Butler Bay, Little Andaman - Endangered Wave?

« on: July 03 2007 16:07:00 »

Will a Jetty be built in the Middle of Butler Bay, Little Andaman?

Hi !

My name is Christine Garcia and I work with Save the Waves Coalition (www.savethewaves.org) and we focus on saving waves that are endangered due to construction and development.  We suggest alternatives so that a wave is saved and the developer can still meet his/her goals as well.

We have received word that that pier which will be built over the next 3 years will destroy the wave on the middle reef in Butler Bay.

It is the wave featured in Thicker Than Water.

Please let me know if you can provide me with any more specific information or authorities on who is responsible for this.

Thank you!

Christine

i dont think they plan to do that, there are no waves in butler bay, this is not the wave feature in thicker then water
those places must kept as secret, please do not promote it
what you are trying to do is very good ,to save waves
but there are other ways to do so
i think there are waves somewhere in andaman but you need a boat and they are very thicle and on shore most of the time

No real reason to build jetty where the wave is? TOO far to town, about 14 klms, plus the town appears to be far more sheltered. The wave has sufferred a bit from the Tsunami and not as good as the movie. No accomodation at all. ALL the west coast has lifted and totally destroyed any wave on that side of the island
