Advice for Surf Trip« on: June 15 2012 01:06:00 »
I'm looking at heading out to Indo for 8 days during the first week of October most likely on my own. I've only been surfing for about a year and would say i'm currently at a beginners-intermediate level. I've set myself a budget of around AUD$1000 exc flights and surf hire as i plan to take a couple of my own boards. Does anyone have any recommendations on which area's i should consider? surf camps? General advice etc
I'm looking for somewhere rather uncrowded waves and not really interested in the nightlife, looking to unwind.
Thanks in advance

-Everyone coming to Indo is looking for uncrowded waves, join the other 100,000
-Your budget is good for 8 days
-Time is bigest limiting factor. Outside of Bali, you will burn aprox one day getting outside of Bali and another day getting back. I would suggest Medewi(nw Bali).

The above ^^^^^^^ spam post if a good example of burning time getting to and from surf areas outside of Bali. To get to fly into Bander Lampung form Jakarta or Bali, then it's a 7-8 hour road trip to the Kuri area(the say it's 5-8 hr, but it's really more like 7-8). And that's if you don't have to stay in Bander Lampung overnite because of fight schedules. You might get 6 days of surf, but 5 is more likely.
When you say you're going for 8 days, is that from the day you leave till return, or actual 8 full days in Indo?

Also, there is a speed boat from Bali to G Land, which is pretty fast, 2-3 hr. It's not cheap but will get you there quickly, leaves really early in the am, 500 or 600.
