Im thinking on going for a surf trip somewhere in Indonesia end of may, either bali or whereever, im at beginner/intermed level just got my first fun board 7'6 looking for a good long wave i can practice on, but ive surfed kuta bali and the crowd and the waves are not that pleasing at times, any more spots i can look into?

Just want to drop a quick reply about Indonesia, ... there has already been a lot of info given and most of it is true: it is a surfer's paradise, but it can be very serious as well. A strong period swell there can bring solid waves, so choose your destination well.
There are still quieter spots, particularly South Sumatra. Check out
and send an email if you want any more info. it is a great wave and there are other waves around if it feels too big... it is a beautiful part of the world with friendly locals; well worth a look!
