The closest waves time wise to get from singapore would either be.
Nias, west java or even bali.
NIAS=from singapore, flight to Medan then fly to Nias then drive a few hours.(if flights connect=about 5 hours)
WEST JAVA=from singapore to Jakarta then a few hour drive.(=about 5 hours)
BALI=from singapore to Jakarta to Denpassar and a short drive.(=if flights conect=about 3 hours)
Bali could actually be your best bet especially if you can get a flight from singapore to Bali, dont know if any airlines fly this route?

I know this is an old post, but just in case anyone stumbles on this like I did:
There are direct flights to Bali from Singapore now on Singapore Air, JetAir, and soon AirAsia. The last two should be for around 300 SGD or so direct, but the Jet Air flight is really late flight (like 12 AM). Singapore Air is a bit more at around 525. But all of these flights are direct and the airport is very close to Kuta for some easy waves...

Other than Indo you can check out Kata Beach in Phuket. Nice beach break (2-4ft) from May to around end of Oct. Can blow onshore a fair bit but when it's clean it's as much fun as any beach break I've surfed. It's a short and easy flight from Singapore (only around 1hr 15mins) and accomodation is nice and cheap.
Ask for Ying at www.phuketsurf.com, she'll sort you out with boards there if you need 'em.
I'm also based in Singapore so if anyone's thinking of getting a crew together let me know. Happy to help organise something.
