Best beginner surf - Bali or Lombok?« on: July 11 2019 04:07:00 »
I’m a 37 year old mom of three going on a surf holiday alone for two weeks from late october 2019. I’ve only booked airplane tickets, and need some tips as to where to stay. I’ve only surfed approx. 30 hours in Ericeira, Portugal, spread over the last ten years - I’m able to get up and ride fairly big waves (2,5 meters at the most) as long as the takeoff isn’t too steep. I’m not consistently able to catch the wave on my own, I still sometimes need a push, and I still think getting caught on the inside is scary. I’m thinking I want to book private lessons, so I probably won’t surf alone. Do you have any thoughts on where I should go? Is Lombok easier and more suited to my level than Bali? I’m used to flat reef, but prefer sand.. Appreciate all tips!!

Canggu has mellow waves.
Or the Bukit in Bali, with spots like Padang Padang (mid to high tide) and Dreamland (low tide), has suitable waves for beginners and intermediates.
