Hey, im an intermediate surfer headin to Bali for a week in february for the first time. Lookin to meet up with somone there to help me out to get accomodation, a board and take me to some different surf spots. I dont want to pay a surf camp $500 just to do that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Generally, you can negotiate with any hotel or warung you go to. Be kind, respectful and humble. Those traits will go far for you down there. Most Balinese are very kind people. If you feel they are trying to rip you off, they are not. You can kindly refuse, but do not blow your top. You have to remember, you will be in a third world country. Tourism is the lifeline for their economy, nothing else. Have fun. And you may want to stay in Seminyak or Legian for cheaper rates. Or Sanur on the east side, which is actually where you should be, given you're there in Feb. Good luck.
