how long could i make it

I plan on going to indo this june with a good amount of money maybe$10,000+. Do you think i could last a year or so. I not talking about staying just in one spot. Also, i not trying to stay anywhere expensive.  I want to surf, live like a boyscout(hippy stlye/feral style). I've done my traveling & I can deal with pretty much anything. Just wondering if anyone had some pointers( haven't had to many friends go there).

                                                      thank you

And some tips to make it last.

-Get indo wise real quick.
-Learn some Bahasa indo.
-Then learn some more until you think in Bahasa indonesia.
-If it's your first trip, tell the locals it's your third.
-Barter with everyone even cops.
-Buy flight tickets with the cheap airlines and wait until the day before or a few days before to buy tickets as they decrease in price.
-Use buses as much as possible.
-use ferrys and fishing boats to island hop and stay in losmens a stone throwq from surf camps.
