A few of my mates have been taking their mini-mals/mals to Bali for the last couple of years and they have had no problems. I am heading to Bali in early Sept and am taking an 8'6" mal, as I am now too old and too fat to ride anything smaller. It is a good old clunker in anything from 3-7' and a few dings won't matter too much.

Hi Peter, I'm heading over in march 08 with my mal. Can you reccommend any breaks, preferably right handers and have you surfed Bali in April. Have you used any of the surf tours on offer in Bali?

If you are taking a longboard to Bali - you've gotta get up to MEDEWI. Its about 2 hrs from Kuta up the coast, but has brilliant big slow waves ideal for mal's. Unfortunately for us we took the mopeds and not the baords but will be a definite next time. Nice and remote, no crowd and a warung (friendly) right on the beach (rocks) Definitely worth going. You can still ride a mal at Kuta Reef and Airports although gets crowded and some resistance to mals.

Have been surfing bali from March - May for the last 7 years. Best right hand would be Nusa Dua. Also was very lucky a few times at Nusa Lembongan and the Gilis. Enjoy!

I live in Bali and there are great places for Long boards all over. The off the top of my head there is a great right at Sanur & Nusa Dua, Then on a low tide and good banks outside KuDeTa, My personal favorite is Canggu, and for those that don't mind a bit of a drive try Balian and the long left at Medewi. Just remember to bring booties.

Hi, am a beginner-ish surf chick with mini-mal (7'10") looking for a good location in Indo to plonk myself for around 2 weeks beginning of April. Cheap and remote not a problem -Prefer away from Kuta Bali. All I ask is a nice fun wave for me to get out on and improve my surfing confidence. Friend has suggested Lombok (Kuta) and have visited Balian/Medewi late ast year but was very much beginner then..... like to try somewhere different. Cheers for any ideas!!
