Getting extra boards into indo.

While travelling through indo i would like to take two or three surfboards aswell as a boogie for extra hollow breaks.
However im now thinking of staying for longer but im not sure if i will snap boards or need new ones.

Do you think i should take like 5 boards? I will be going for at least four months.
I will be in sumatra, possibley staying in Nias from time to time.
do you think i will be able to get extra boards on the plane with me?
Im flying with eithor tiger airways or jetstar.

Also how many boards can you fly with on the local indonesian planes?

RE: Getting extra boards into indo.

fyi a coulpe of aussies got dragged into the grilling room at denpasar airport a few weeks ago- they each had 4 boards + got extorted a couple of hundred bucks for supposedly breaking customs regulations. i dont know the rules + most people take a few boards, but if you're taking 5 boards you'll need thick skin- especially whlist in transit- and strong shoulders or get your girlfriend to caddy for ya. don't take a bodyboard- bodyboarding is neither smart nor humorous (unless its wiamea shorey,..!) try an epoxy mini-gun

RE: Getting extra boards into indo.

not sure of the actual fine but start shelling cash for more than 2, most airlines will let you get away with 25kg depending on a lucky day maybe 30 but you will shell cash out not worth the drama just take your standard short board and an indo gun plenty of boards to be bought there for the right price
