Surfing West Java

« on: May 13 2005 13:05:00 »

Hey,
Im travelling to Jakarta this summer and I may move down towards Patican to catch some surf, but I wanted to know if boards are readily availible to rent out there? How much would it cost to rent a board, if so?

Hi, if you want to surf in West Java there are some surf spots and one of of them have a surf school also rent surfboards too, cost around Rp 50.000/day. located Cimaja & sunset beach at Pelabuhan Ratu(west java). For more information email at surfcultureclub@yahoo.com  thanks. FYI, Pacitan is located in East Java, there are some surf spots too, but kinda far from Jakarta.

Cruising to the west coast of Java in July/August, anyone know the best way to get there from Jakarat airport, cost of it, time....etc?
I was going to hang in Cimaja for while to suss things out. I hear the locals can be a bit of a pain. Is anything of this stuff true?
Know any sweet places to stay around cimaja?

Wicked thanks

Cimaja is a great spot to stay. Locals are not a pain at all - very friendly. The standard price to get from Jakarta to Cimaja is $100.00 US for the car. There are alot of places to stay in Cimaja depending on what you want to spend. The mosque goes off around 4am so better not to stay near the mosque. An Aussie guy runs a great place in Cimaja called Pondok Kencana. Has different types of accomodation, a pool and if you need anything at all just ask him - great bloke. Been staying with him for the last few years when I go over. His website address is www.ombaktujuh.net. If you are into exploring you can rent a bike from one of the locals for the day. The hot springs are great
