off the beaten track, maybe?

gday trendsetters
so heres the thing, im over surfing 2 foot on shore slop with 50 other blokes scrabbling for waves. so i want to get some nice, fun, makeable barrels. not so keen on heaving death kegs, just mellow, fun waves. i am pretty keen to keep away from the crowds also. ill probably b travelling alone or with one other. ive never been to indo, tho ive travelled 3rd world countries, so understand pretty well how things work over there. and i dont really care what i have to go thru in the way of  travel and living conditions to get some nice waves. ill b on a shoestring budget. just want waves and a bit of culture. any hot tips?cheers

RE: off the beaten track, maybe?

Research..Look for a wave you like on wannasurf and this one.
Maybe one thats slightly protected for fun waves.
Right or left?
If right nov-march, for good winds, left typicall wind pattern april- oct.
Ments and some other areas are different though and change winds whenever.
Reef or sand?
There are good rivermouths in indo aswell as good reefbreaks.

maldives is probably more your thing if you have the cash.

Mentawai Island could be your option to get some waves and a bit of indigenous culture.
