quiver suggestions?

« on: May 05 2008 13:05:00 »

This will be my first trip to Indo.  I'm doing G-Land for 4 days and then a boat trip for 7.  I plan on bringing 3 boards.  I currently have my go to 6'4' that I always ride, and a good 6'10' rounded pin.  What should be the third board??  Should I get another big board, or get something like a 6'6'?  I just don't want to find my 6'10' snapped and be undergunned for the rest of the trip, but I'm not even sure if that should be a worry.  Any advice is welcome.
Thanks!

I'd take an identical 6'10 mini gun or maybe 6'8 mini gun, as the 6'10 is the most likely to get snapped in solid size waves.

have fun.

Lex, it's people like you that give surfers a bad name.  I'm sorry your self-esteem is so poor that you have to attempt to build up your ego by putting others down.  It's a valid question for someone who's never been.  But I can see where your response is coming from.  Ignorant people rarely ask questions, and usually stay ignorant.

Lex sounds like the only kook in this thread.

Wow your from hawaii oooh.
Like we give a shit, hawaii is over rated.

Im leaving in a few days for five months and have to
leave a few boards at home.
Only taking my 5'10 fish,a6'6 rounded pin quad..
And a good bodyboard..If i snap my 6'6 i expect to be able to buy off a leaving traveller for cheap.

Someone whos ran out of coin or wants to refresh their visa etc.
If not im comfy riding my fish in sizey waves or my bodyboard in anything like chopes.

you will probably ride your 6'6 and 6'10 the most at G-land  , you will be fine up to about 6-8ft , if it breaks than just have to ride the others, you'll be fine..maybe some bigger fins if you have fcs....

IF MY QUIVER WAS 100%, FOR SHORT TRIPS I WOULD TRY TO AVOID BUYING ANY BOARDS OVER THERE. ie. unless you're in good form, AVOID TRYING OUT UNKNOWN CRAFT ON UNKNOWN WAVES IN UNKNOWN TERRITORY.
My quiver is knackered at the moment, so in a few days it's just me, Sharlene (7'1 rhino chaser) and Wuanita (6'2 rounded- for the small stuff) unfortunately i'll need to look for something inbetween when i'm over there (rounded pin). Have faith in airlines and lay yer base coat b4 ya hit tha tropics!
