Getting around Sumatra« on: June 06 2008 10:06:00 »
Just wondering if anyone has any helpful hints about getting around
the island of Sumatra?
I plan on flying into Jakarta and then catching a domestic flight to
Bandar Lampung (or however you spell it).
From there a buddy and I were hoping to rent a car and drive north.
What I hope to find out via this forum is if car rental is even possible
once i get into Bandar Lampung?
If so how much is it and what is the best/safest way to get around?
Thanks in advance for all your help!

your plan is on the money dude , theirs always guys hanging around the airport that offer transport/car rental , roughly 200,000rp a day , bargain hard , the longer the cheaper , my advice is get a deisel/solar car , petrol supply in indo at the moment ( especially rural areas ) isn't reliable , deisel is . enjoy your trip and if going to krui avoid a certain operator who thinks he owns the place (you'll hear from the locals) . new marketing , same arrogance ! respect, explore,ENJOY!
