Panaitan Island« on: June 21 2008 09:06:00 »
I am planning to go to Panaitan at the end of July, after surfing around the spots that are south west of Java. Try to keep it low budget. So if anyone has information about accommodation on the neighbouring island of Panaitan or knows a local with a boat to rent it would be helpful. If anyone else wants to join please let me know.

Hey, I was in Panaitan island in April, you can get local boats to take you out, sorry, not sure where from but do make sure you pay the National Park entrance fee. It's a beautiful, untouched place and by paying that entrance fee, we help maintaining it. The only accommodation I know of is on Peucang island with the park rangers but if you stay there, you then need a boat to take you out to the breaks. I met some guys there staying on fishermen boats, that seemed to be the best option if you're not going on an organised trip. Just remember that fee, the rangers patrol and they will be intransigent, which I think is actually a good thing... You're gonna love it there, it's just the most beautiful place I ever surfed. Enjoy your trip :)

I've been to Panaitan twice and scored it once. Bring full suit, helmet and booties in case 1 palm breaks. Perfect wave but even perfection has a price; skin on reef.

Well ill tells ys that One Palm Point is one serious wave and Id reccomend u take full precautions,Booties,Suit and Helmet. Surf this wave if u can charge shallow, intense barreling waves. The other waves there are also pretty intense on their day...so if thats ur gig go for it.....I personally have had some dream sessions there in pristine natural enviroment....I could spoon feed u with all the info, but reckon u will find ur way if u around the area and are keen, adventurous and ready to take on the waves at Panaitian
